BIAS Peak?

Here's the thing......I have all these MP3's of hour long continueous dance mixes that I'd like to burn to CD with track numbers throughout but WITHOUT the little pauses/skips(iTunes is notorious for...). BIAS Peak allows you to split up the file BUT I can't figureout the difference between "Markers" and "Regions" for the life of me. Does anyone know how to insert track/markers/regions AND how to actually burn it with in either Peak or exported to JAM??? Thanks for any help!!!

from what i understand, regions are where 2 tracks overlap (sometimes you may see a negative time displayed on your cd player's display between songs), whereas the track marker is where track x actually begins.

Isn't JAM part of Roxio Toast? I'm sure there's an option in Toast to remove silence at beginning/end of tracks, and then specify a length of zero for inbetween track markers.

Actually the delay between tracks is by default 2 seconds in iTunes and can be set to 0 seconds if you wish.

Jam will allow you to cross-fade between files over a user-set period of time, plus Jam will allow red-book standard CD authoriing, as opposed to orange-book with Toast.

In iTunes, even if you take out the 2 second(default) spacing, you still hear the slice or rather slight shift from track to track. Ofcourse, there is no space inbetween the tracks and it continues(without silence) but its' noticeable from track to track. I "dj" and what I use to do to transfer my mixes to CD is to first record them onto MiniDisc. Afterwards, assign the track numbers on my MiniDisc and then connect the MiniDisc to a CD recorder via Optical cable and do a 1x digital dump/record. It worked perfectly but now I'm trying to do the same thing but with a sound file.

I never bother with markers or regions.

If I want to know where on the waveform I want to make changes, I'll either memorize the section of the waveform or the exact location by time.

Those small regions of silence can be removed if you edit the waveform for this. In Bias Peak (or Sound Studio) remove any silence at the beginning/end of the waveform and, if necessary, join tracks.

Perhaps import the AIFF files, edit them, then save them in the method you choose so you can stream them.

(Jam comes with Toast if you choose to purchase both together.)

Marking the sound file by time is another great way.

I still need to figure out how to take that hour long "continueous dance mix" sound file and insert track numbers then burn it to CD. Still have the track numbers with out disturbing the continueous mix. Has anybody done this by any chance. Am I the only person in the universe attempting this???<smile>

One other thing......I know you can see and edit a sound files soundwave in Roxio CD creator for Windows.....Can you do the same on a Mac using JAM? Either way, I wonder if Peak is the best way to go and can I Just burn the CD right from it, after I insert the Markers/Regions? Hmmms....still gotta figure out that Marker/Region thing? Helppppp!!!!

Firstly; markers are used more to help you go back and forth quickly between sections of your audio file. you can select to export only what's between the markers when exporting your audio. You need to experiment. Your not harming anything if you experiment
Anyhow;
There's two ways to go about this for the mix d.j. Take the one track and Highlight the portiion you want to designate as track 1; copy it and paste to new folder then save; continue to do so until you have all your tracks. Bring the files into Itunes. Turn off the silence between tracks in itunes preferences. and it will burn the cd as a continuous mix with the seperate tracks with no breaks in between. I've done this with success.
The other way is to use peak with creating your regions and playlists; with this you save your playlist and you can preview your mixes (transitions) in the playlist.
You would basically create a playlist (please use the peak documentation and help files; it's real easy to follow)
After you create your playlist; u can click the burn audio option right from the playlist window and it will launch toast.
You will have to set up toast to do Disc at once recording. Track at once puts the 3 second gaps in between tracks. Disc at once ignores this and burns your continuous mix from the tracks you create in your playlist.
Follow the documentation it's simple as hell.

Jam kicks the crap out of Roxio CD Creawhatever.

Use Toast. It don't click on you.

Although I find it hard to believe someone who doesn't know that actually paid for Deck and Jam...

you should just make the selection you want and then cut it from the file and paste it to a new one. it's faster and easier than trying to manage all those points.
