My wife plays some of the Big Fish games that are the "hidden object" type, where you have to find 7 items in a detailed painting. On her 2007 MacBook, these games would rev the fans up to full speed to cool the computer. She just got a 2011 MacBookPro i5 and the same thing is happening- fans at full speed, only when playing these games.
Does anyone else have this issue with Big Fish games? How can such a simple game overheat the computer so much? They have no 3D graphics, no fast action, and require hardly any serious computing power compared to other games. Is there some setting in the game to use less power? Is it running on some kind of emulator mode that is requiring so much CPU power?

Check to see if the games are using Flash to run. I noticed some 2D games like Machinarium are actually Flash games packaged into an app since it makes it easy to port them across PC/Mac. Unfortunately Flash is horribly optimized for OSX and at high full screen resolutions it can really make the computer heat up even if nothing much is happening on the screen.
