Some battery life tests of the new Android phones released last month in China. Global versions of some will probably be coming very early next year. Seems like the SD8 Elite/D9400 paired with more energy dense Si batteries has really made a big difference in battery life. Look at how far down the S24 Ultra is.

(一加 = OnePlus, 三星 = Samsung, 华为 = Huawei, 小米 = Xiaomi, 真我 = Realme)

I don't think this is surprising... with HTC and LG out of the phone industry, Google being Google, and Samsung content to rest on their laurels, I think Chinese OEMs are the only ones putting serious effort into pushing phone hardware, at least outside of SoC advancements. 🙃

(I don't think Samsung's excuse of "we don't want another Galaxy Note 7" as justification for not pushing battery technology really holds up anymore.)

Yep, they really don't have much competition outside of China. I mean Android is the US seems to be basically synonymous with Samsung.

I currently use an S23+ and really enjoy it. Mainily due to how much customizability it allows with Good Lock. One hand operation plus in amazing and I don't think I could go back to a phone without it. I really hope the S25+ will be able to compete with these new phones. I expect at least a 5500mAh battery.

Phonebuff video of Oppo Find X8 Pro vs iPhone 16PM. The Oppo has a Dimensity 9400 SoC and 5910mAh Si/C battery. It's releasing in a global version too.

Hopefully this will be an indication of what we can expect from the S25+ and Ultra.

Wait. Are those bars measuring hours and minutes? iPhone 16 Pro Max lasted 5 hrs 49 min? S24 Ultra 4 hrs 46 min? That doesn't seem right. What were they doing to test it? To get such low scores this must have been a constant BitTorrent connection while playing a very GPU-intense game @ 100% brightness. Am I misreading the chart?

Yes that's right. It is a lot of intense gaming like Genshin Impact, and on 5G too. These newer chips are just that much more efficient when it comes to gaming. For more normal tests, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is still right in the mix.

Yes it's accurate.

They're not testing specific & dedicated vIdeo playback, audio payback, call length times where the uktra would outperform tge 16P and just under the 16PM.
