Hi there,
I'm looking at buying a new mac for my arsenal of video editing machines. i hae a dually 2.0...love it..juiced it up to 3.5 GBs, added another internal HD and have bunch of externals. great machine.
so, i'm looking at the 2.0 vs 2.3 duals. I don't need the quad...too much overkill for my needs. For the extra $600, is the extra .3 processor, and .15 frontside bus and vid card worth that much of a difference? Is there a site where I can see benchmarks for the 2?
I'm thinking i should just get the 2.0, add some ram and another internal HD and leave it at that?
I run FCP, DVDSP, bitvice, compressor and livetype...hoping to try motion someday if i get a chance to have some free time to play with it. i haven't ventured into the world of HD just yet and i really can't see myself doing it just yet (mostly home video transfers and government work).
suggestions?
Oh, and i'm not worried nor care about the intel. i have enough business in the queue to play for at least 1/3 of a new machine right now...which means i'll have 3 macs working away like little madmen. I'm not fussed about the future of apps working on PPCs b/c i know Apple's not that stupid to stop supporting it for a long, long time given the # of ppc macs out there now.
Cheers and thanks in advace,
Keebler
