Howdy Folks,

After a reboot headache, my 2019 16" MacBook Pro updated to Big Sur 11.1 this morning. One of the first things I have noticed is that Apple seems to have changed the behavior of the Mac. Prior to this update, I heard the same chime that my iPhone/iPad makes when plugging into power, when I plugged in the MacBook. Also, the default behavior since I got this new Mac is that it boots silently, you don't hear the classic Mac chime. However, now I hear the Mac chime at boot. So it seems they have removed the plugged-in chime, and restored the boot chime? Has anyone else noticed this, or am I going crazy (LOL)? Thanks!

Well, here is some updated information. I contacted Apple Support (I have AppleCare+) about this issue. They had me try various things like resetting the SMC, and creating a test user account. They then had me re-install Big Sur, which did not solve the problem. Right now, the MacBook Pro will occasionally make the chime when I plug it in if it is already on, but will no longer make the sound if it is in an off state. The next option is to contact them back, and they will escalate this issue, I am not sure what that means. I'll post more as it develops. Thanks!

Hi @LinkRS
Thanks for sharing the information. I also have a 16" Macbook Pro 2019 and I was hesitant to update to BigSur. As a result of your issue, I decided to wait more and don't update yet. Will keep an eye on your updates here. Thank you very much.
