Hello,

First, thanks a lot for the "easy to install package" from Martin Lo. It's awesome to have the opportunity to install new Mac OS on a 5.1 !!

So last week, on a safe OS drive I installed Big Sur 11.2.3 on my cMP 5.1 (see my signature) with the 0.8 package. Everything is OK !
But I wonder if it's possible and safe to install the last Big Sur OS (11.6.8) ?

Thanks !

I’ve updated my OS from 11.6.7 to 11.6.8 without issue on my production system and it’s running stable. I am using the RefindPlus|OpenCore chainloader, but that doesn’t make any difference to running OpenCore straight.

To update, I just boot using my OC_ALT instance of OpenCore that has VMM enabled etc and then update via System Preferences>Software Update. Upon reboot, I make sure it boots to the macOS Installer option in the picklist instead of your OS drive, and let it update. It may do this a second time also, and after it’s finished it should then boot back to your OS drive.

This should be safe for you giving your using a safe drive.

Just go back and read up post#1 of the OpenCore forum and this should help answer any other questions you have.
