Big Sur 12.4 M1 Music not Connecting to HomePods

My Intel systems connect fine. The Music app on my M1 connects and the domes light, but there is no sound. I had the same issue with the Monterey beta. Restarting HomePods has no impact as is tapping the volume in case that is set too low. This is with ALL my HomePods - two stereo pairs each of Mini and Classic.

I can connect on a system wide level and it plays. Rogue Amoeba AirFoil can connect using AirPlay 1 and play.

Does anybody else see the same issue? Any ideas on fixing this?
