Hi all, transitioned from windows on my work and personal stuff, really enjoying it so far. Just a few quick questions re. the way mac deals with different sample rates on the audio side, see bullet points and screenshot attached. Thanks in advance!
Is this the expected behaviour? If so i preferred the windows way, set it and forget it!
Maybe there's a better player than vlc that would change the format to whatever it is playing?
Thanks in advance
- On Windows i could set the bits and sample rate, I had it set at 96khz / 24 bit on Windows and it remained like this forever. I have a few high quality flac files which are 96khz and they sound great.
- On Mac I am in the audio midi setup and can change everything I need which is great... i've changed my outputs to 96khz and the high res flac files sound great
- However if I fire up logic and play with some of my projects (which are 44khz, some 48khz), logic changes the sample rate set in the audio midi setup tool to whatever my projects are set to (see screenshot)
- When I quit logic, the sample rate stays at whatever the last project was and doesn't reset it back to what it was before the change (96khz)
- More annoyingly when I then play a high res 96khz flac file in VLC player (latest version), the sample rate doesn't change in audio midi setup, i have to change it back to 96khz
- Also on reboots the settings seem to revert to 44khz
- To be truthful I can't really hear much difference if i play my flac files when it's reset to 44khz but it's annoying none the less.
Is this the expected behaviour? If so i preferred the windows way, set it and forget it!
