Today I installed Big Sur on two different MBPs. One is 2019 16inch and the other one is a 2016 15inch.

On the 2019 MBP, only one volume was shown by the installer. Once the installation was finished, it opened the login screen and I was able to login with my password.

But on the 2015 Mac, two volumes was shown (Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data). Although after installing, it prompted to setup the Mac like it was a new one (migration assistance, setting up user accounts, wifi)

Any ideas what caused this difference? And how did the installer work on your Mac?

Update: after waiting it seems now mouse cursor is now showing, which was not before. Maybe it’s doing something? Progress bar is still at same place.
