Hello,

Usually I'm not complaining in forums - but I'm fed up atm. I began using Apple products back in mid/end 90's with the introduction of the iMac G3. Haven't looked back since. Work related I used Linux (Suse, Redhat) as well as Windows (10 atm).

Until Big Sur I only ever had minor issues with MacOS on my 2015 Macbook Pro Retina 15.

Now, after upgrading to Big Sur when it came out - currently using 11.4 - MacOS became the worst experience I ever had with an Apple product.

What issues do I have?

After Standby: Mouse pointer is not fluid after standby, its erradic and choppy. Like its moving in steps rather than in a fluid motion.
System is unresponisve after standby, hangs and needs a restart to fix.

My mouse is causing high cpu load (currently using a Roccat mouse) - same mouse since a few generations of Mac OS. Never had any issues til now.

I use 2 external monitors: If I switch monitors sometimes the background image gets messed up, schreen is flickering and I have to restart to fix.

Apple Mail: Bottom left corner: erradically switching between checking for mail / no new mail - close and restart to fix temporarily.

Mac booting into Bootcamp after using Bootcamp - changing the start volume to MacOS doesnt help - it sometimes randomly chooses Bootcamp as startup disk.

and some more issues that I may have forgotten now.

What did I try to resolve:

NVRAM / PRAM reset: no changes
Reinstalled Big Sur: Same issues appear again

Right now Windows 10 runs so much better on my Macbook - its not even funny. That can't be Apples idea of computing experience (or is mobile use with iPad/iOs their main objective now?)

Any help? Any ideas?

Big sur installed on my mac basically hung on daily basis after long sleep/hibernation. Only fix I found was forced restart.
Sometimes, my mouse also became very laggy for no obvious reason to me. I use a Lofree one. But I don't think the issue is linked to specific mouse brands, but rather a possible OS bug.
I had not experienced problem with Apple mail in the way described. I don't have bootcamp.
After a few months with Big Sur, I downgraded to Catalina due to repeated unacceptable interruption to workflow.

Are you upgrading or new install? Do you restore from backup? You could try new install and manually copy documents from Time Machine backup (not restore user setting/apps). Not practical indeed, but worth the effort.

Big Sur is a dog. Hoping Monterey refines the issues rather than just splashing on a new coat of paint.
Don't count on it! Every time they release the yearly OS they add in dozens of new features that no one asked for. Break, fix, break, fix, rinse and repeat. They don't reach good points of stability anymore like they used to in the 10.6 and 10.8 days. It is getting old!

Here’s hoping Monterey is “Snow Big Sur”

I upgraded to Big Sur after having a having a miserable time on Catalina. Better but not great. No major bugs backup and sync not working at all on my iphone 11, and other than not being able to directly backup and reboot on the backup drive. Thats stupid.
