Hello
I need to upgrade around 30 or so MacBooks which are running 11.6. When we download the installer (via system settings), the installer in Applications is crossed out (attached). This occurs on every MacBook, the only way around this is to install Ventura and then install Sonoma.
I have also tried downloading the installer via terminal, same problem.

Has Apple prevented skipping major versions or could there be something else going on here?

I'm having to do this remotely - installing multiple OS versions is time consuming to say the least!

We have tried the full installers as well - same problem.

We use Addigy, but their DDM doesn't support BigSur so it's a manual process for these remaining machines.
This is likely some sort of permissions problem, I'd have to guess. Do you also have some sort of Sonoma installer block in your MDM?
I like to use this script to get installers to my clients when needed: https://github.com/grahampugh/erase-install

We did initially have a Sonoma block. The block was removed once we confirmed all our software was supported. I wonder if there is a bit of code left behind somewhere……

It sure seems like it. What are permissions on the installer?

That’s an issue specific to the beta installer, though, not the release versions of Sonoma.
Couldn't it be an acknowledged issue in Sonoma 14.3 that has not yet been fixed in Sonoma 14.4?

Can you confirm that your 30 or so macs are compatible with sonoma? are they 2017 or earlier?

The Sonoma installer is not crossed out, as in the first post image, on Macs that are not compatible with Sonoma. You get the message after starting the installation.
