Since I installed BigSur, my mac crashes on every eGPU disconnect. Nothing can be done about it. Goes straight into reboot.
Anybody with eGPU that has no issues And life is peachy?
I upgraded from catalina and i’m wondering if full wipe and fresh install will help.

Core X + Vega 56.

Cheers.

Hello. I have exactly same issues as you. On every disconnect it crashes. Right after macOS upgrade, it didn't disconnect at all. I was forced to disconnect it unsafely. But after one reboot of macOS. It crashes every time when I click disconnect. I also don't know what to do about it.

Blackmagic eGPU Pro (with Vega 56)

Thanks.

Same here. I have an MBPro 16" with a Razer Core X and Radeon Vega 64. Ever since I upgraded to Big Sur, when I disconnect the eGPU via the menu item the system freezes every single time. Sometimes restarts after a kernel panic, sometimes just hangs there forever.

Such a shame the last version of Catalina was finally running stable with the eGPU, and the wake from sleep issues all seemed to be solved.

Thanks for posting this. You've saved me a big headache. I was about to 'upgrade' to Big Sur.

Sonnet EGPU with the RX 580 X 2 - My wife (2017 MBP 13' TB) and myself (2020 MBP 13' TB) can disconnect while running with no problems. (On Big Sur).

So the "safest" way to disconnect the Razer Core X with a Vega 64 seems to be to just pull the plug. Then I only get a warning, some apps get restarted, but the machine runs just fine.

Another bug: waking from sleep, sometimes macOS just can't seem to find the HDMI audio via the eGPU/Thunderbolt cable anymore.
