Hey guys, so we've just released our largest BillMinder update YET. BillMinder is our most popular application and the original and (in our opinion) the best bill tracker available.

BillMinder 1.5 adds the following new stuff:
-Color coded categories for collectors
-Backup and restore via secure file format (uses iPhone crypto libraries)
-Export to CSV
-Paid Date
-Paid Amount
-Major user interface improvements
-Custom recurring periods (e.g. 28 days)
-Integration with PocketMoney for iPhone (lets you send bill data to Pocket Money!)
-Tons of bug fixes

Cool huh? Well, it gets better! :D Apple also (finally!) approved our latest application, PlaceTagger. PlaceTagger is a high end geotagging app for your iPhone. It comes with a free Leopard app and Aperture plugin for syncing over wifi and automatically tagging your photos. If you have questions, please do let us know and we'll be glad to help. :) Although PlaceTagger 1.0 does not support the GPX file format, we will release an updated version soon with GPX support so you Windows folks aren't left out in the cold.

I just installed this update. Your app is probably one of my most used apps on my phone. Especially since I have a good amount of bills that I have to pay each month.

<3 thank you thank you :) we hope you like it.

edit: we were glad to partner with the maker of PocketMoney too -- really nice guy and we think it'll be a useful feature for both of our users. :)

How does it integrate with Pocket Money

This is great but how does it integrate with Pocket Money? I have both on my iPhone but have not found any instructions. Never mind. I just found the Send to PM button. I keep getting an error message. It is "Unsuported URL This URL wasn't loaded:ireceipt://hostlocation/post=?category=Bills:Uncatergorized&payee=SC%20Farm%20Bureau&amount=300.00&c

We tested with the latest PocketMoney so I'm a little confused. Would love to take a closer look so we can get this resolved. Can you PM me (or email support at return7.com) w/ details?

Edit: As for instructions, simply turn on PocketMoney integration. You can then send paid bills to PocketMoney via the Send to PM button on the Bill info screen. You must, of course, have PocketMoney on your phone as well.

How come payments don't slowly turn red as the days approach the actual due date anymore? I liked that feature.

I now have a nasty red unpaid amount staring at me and its not due until the end of the month.

I bought this app a while back and played with it, but never did get around to using it yet. Now I have a question.

As I understand it, I would setup my credit union as a collector. Then I would create a bill for my truck payment and setup another bill for my house payment, correct? But when I look at my bills, I just see 2 bills for the credit union. The only way I can see to distinguish them is the amount owed. What I would prefer to see is Truck and House as my bills. I know I can do that but creating new collectors, but then I have to duplicate the collector information.

Am I missing something, or is that pretty much how it works? And if that's how it works, could a future version allow you to name the bills rather than show the collector?

i'm curious as to those who use a program like billminder, if they use a to do app to track to do's other than pay bills. I never could get into having multiple places to go to to ultimately track what is a "to do", whether it's a pay bill to do or not. In PI i create a task to pay a specific bill and set it as recurring monthly if needed. With this method, i have one and only one location to see all of my to do's including bill payments. Just seems inefficient to me to have a separate app for a different "category" or "type" of to do.

We changed this to correspond directly to the paid/unpaid status of bills. To be clear, if a Bill is unpaid, the amount is red. If it is paid in full, the amount is green, and if it is partially paid, the amount is orange.

So the way I would setup this scenario is to simply have two collectors -- one corresponding to your car payment and another to your mortgage. Yes. We keep collectors separate due to recurring bills. If you change your collector info on a recurring bill, that info is inherently associated with all bills instead of it requiring a change to every single recurring bill. Prior to version 1.5's custom recurring period feature, it was also useful so folks could setup recurring bills for intervals we didn't support by staggering two bills. This isn't required anymore, of course.

The whole idea is to track bill specific info. Calendars and TODO lists don't do that. Granted one could just use any arbitrary notes field (and we would love to integrate with iPhone's calendar directly). I definitely see your point of view, but I think one uses the best tool for the job (for them) and I think for many people BillMinder is that tool. :)

I'm going to have to check out Pocket Money now. I keep going back on the App store to look at Pocket Money, but I keep pushing off purchasing it. It seems as though BillMinder and Pocket Money would work nice together.

FYI, we're going to add this to 1.5.1 since people actually use it. We didn't think anyone actually cared about the feature and figured it might be confusing w/ the new red/green/orange stuff. We'll be pushing that to Apple tonight.

EDIT: 1.5.1 is in Apple's hands :)

Thank you!!!

Our pleasure. The PocketMoney integration is meant to send 1 bill at a time because it would be very cumbersome to try and send more than one bill (plus I'm sure there's a limit to the URL and the PocketMoney developer would have to add support on his end as well). Not sure if the reviewer who left that comment for us in iTunes reads macrumors, but hopefully they'll understand. :)
