Just noticed this showed up in the app store. Looks interesting.

Seems it's half off ($3) for the first week. Anyone bought this and played it yet? Would like to know how it is.... :D

That looks good. I'm looking forward to a quick review, so I can know if it's worth the three bucks. :)

The game is great...it's more challenging than you think. Graphics are amazing. Made by the same people that brought you Enigmo.

Graphics are amazing.

It's funny how the ability to have games on a phone lowers people's standards. The graphics look *ok* on the screenshots. "Amazing"? If this were 1999, maybe. It kinda looks like Quake meets Westworld.

So far seems to be a great game, but I really haven't played it that much. Seems like Pangea put some effort into the small details on this one. For 2.99 you have to try it out. Better then the 9.99 I paid for Enigmo.

Freakin awesome! I can't believe it's that cheap!

Funny, just saw your review on iTunes.... Mine should be up shortly.

Hey guys, if this is the wrong forum, then please move mod.

I'm sellin' my 16GB original iPhone on eBay, link is below. I'm just hoping to get something back for it. it works 100% it just needs a glass replacement.

Anyway, thanks for looking.

I've been playing around with it and agree that the graphics are pretty good. Definitely in the top tier of iPhone games. The controls are a little shabby, though. The tap-to-shoot function works well in the shooting galleries but is really off on the shoot outs. Wherever I tap, the targeting crosshair always fires above and to the right of where my finger hits the screen. The Town Duel mini-game is a little strange, too.

While the graphics, sound effects and music are all good, the controls make me a little hesitant to recommend it. I may be the only one experiencing the control issue with the shoot outs, but from a review I read on iTunes it doesn't seem like it. I'll be posting a full review of the game with additional screen shots to my site tomorrow.

Go into Settings and turn OFF the Offset Reticule option, that'll make it so it fires exactly at wherever you touch. A couple people mentioned this in the reviews, and it bugged me a bit myself until i figured it out...that said, i highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a decent shooter, it's definitely worth $2.99.

You're a genius! Makes it a lot easier to aim now (though it's still not pinpoint for me). I hadn't had a chance to mess around with the settings last night. But this change in the settings does make it much more enjoyable. Thanks for the tip!

I just posted my review on the game. I think Pangea Software rushed this one out too early, there's really not much gameplay to be had with each of the mini-games. Perhaps a future update will flesh the game out more, but as it is now, it's more of a gimmick than a game.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree a bit. Definitely not just "a gimmick" (we've seen enough of those on the app store to know what they are) and yes, each one of those mini games may not be fully fleshed out, but the combination of all of them together in one package is what makes this a winner, imho.

It's like that group of MIDI apps that some company released (can't remember the name) it would have been a great app with all those little utilities included, but the company is trying to charge 6 bucks for each of those simple little utilities that could have easily been combined (and needed) into one. Pangea could have done the same thing here and released a couple of these (Like the Stampede and the Town Shootout) as separate apps, but thankfully they didn't.

I am enjoying Billy Frontier at the moment, I guess we'll see what the reply value will be like...

Bought it but haven't played it yet. The reviews in the App Store look good. At half off, for $2.99, it was a no brainer for me.

I also bought Enigmo for the discounted price of $5.99. Woo Hoo!

Okay, just played it and I LOVE IT! Can't believe I only paid $2.99 for it . . . . what a deal!

Your mixing apples and oranges. What the he'll are you comparing it to? More importantly what do you expect from a phone app? This is an iPhone app forum and I stand by my statement that the graphics are amazing for an iPhone app.

Some people just like to complain about anything. ;)

The graphics are indeed amazing for an iPhone game. I've downloaded it on iTunes, but sadly can't play it yet as my iPhone is currently not opening any 3rd-party apps. So sad. :(

I agree. I haven't seen any other mobile phone that has games or other apps that look nearly as good as they do on the iPhone.

The game is fun enough to me and I seldom like phone games. $2.99 isn't much to spend so I am okay with the purchase. The half price marketting I guess worked on me because I had the urge to grab it before they began charging real money for it.

What do you expect for a cell phone though? I mean I get that it's the all wonderful iPhone, but it's still a cell phone. If it were meant to perform like a DS or PSP I could understand, but the graphics look rather decent for a cell phone game.

It IS meant to perform like the PSP and DS. In case you missed the news, the iPhone has much better specs than both the PSP and the DS.

Sega themselves say that the iPhone has the power of The Sega Dreamcast console and other top developers (including EA and John Carmack himself of Doom and Quake fame) say that it's definitely a gaming console, not just a cellphone, with the power of the PS2 and the original Xbox.

We just need to give it a bit more time before the smaller developers can take advantage of the power of the iPhone. After all, this Billy Frontier game is actually several years old and looks just about the same as the old Mac version did.

if you look at the lifespan of a well done game, they are generally in development for well over a year

the sdk hasn't been around that long, and is entirely new to developers
everything that is out now is rushed and uncomplicated

just wait till the powerplayers start releasing their full "console"games
bioshock and star wars the force unleashed to name a few

throw in the belkin hoypad that is gonna be supported in the sdk
and you really do have the best mobile gaming platform on the network

the devs need time to get their games out
then we'll really be in for a treat
