Bing is a better search engine.

So several days ago, I got an email from MS and they gave me $5 towards my Xbox account for signing up to Bing Rewards Program. Basically you just get points for using their search engine and they reward you.

So I started to use Bing and found their results are much more accurate than Google's search engine. Bing seems to understand questions and displays relevant results, while Google would just take the words from the questions and display results not relevant at all to the question.

For a while I've notice Google's results deteriorate, but I just became good at adjusting. It's like Google only cares about keyword and not the format it typed as.

I'm gonna stick with Bing for a while and see what happens. If I spoke too soon, I'll just switch back to Google as my main search engine.

I would use Bing even without the rewards, but they are certainly a nice bonus. You can get around $100 in Amazon gift cards a year for searching everyday.

I would switch to bing, but I don;'t like their search options. I like how in Google you can search by date, verbatim, etc. I'm way too suspicious of Google and my information so I'd definitely switch if MS added some search functionality to Bing.

Good point, I didn't even factor that yet. I'll have to use Google when I need to narrow searches by time frame.

Yea, I been look at forums into users claims. And it's sounds good. As much as I search, why not collect on it.

Since I upgraded to Windows 10, I've been using Bing practically as my default just out of convenience. I agree with Spinedoc for the most part. It doesn't let you drill down and refine quite as deeply as Google does. But beyond that, it's not half bad. Unless I'm wanting to get real specific, it works perfectly fine.

Just tried a couple of test searches with both and most of the results are similar. I don't really see a point in changing at this point. Especially as the Bing search reward programme doesn't seem to be available here.

Bing never gained traction with me. I think the results are ok, but I'm used to google, for better or worse.

Bing video search completely destroys Google's video search. Just give it a try. When it comes to maps, I use Here Maps. I've always used Here Maps on and off since it released on Android. But now it's full time. I love the true offline navigation. Google simple won't allow you to download cities or countries. I also like how you can go into some buildings (like a mall) and see where something is located, even on different floors.

I have given Bing more than a fair shake recently and have found that except for really simple searches I nearly always end up back at Google to find what I'm looking for. I recall when I was deploying half a dozen or so new Windows 10 laptops this summer I kept needing to get to the same Microsoft page on each one as I was configuring it, and Bing came as the default search on each one. Bing couldn't find me the page and I'd inevitably have to go to Google to find the Microsoft page I needed.

I can't remember the last time Google Maps got directions wrong.

It's not so much that their wrong but if there is construction on the route Google has planned you can't just drag the lines to an alternate way and have it recalculate. I'm referring to the desktop and the driving directions function.

This is the reason I don't use Bing. In particular lack of ability to narrow by date.

Shame because I assume it would be a relatively simple thing to add.

Tried Bing, got similar results to Big G. I'll stick to G.
I'm not sure if Bing does this, but with G I am able to search for Tweets and Hashtags e.g. when I wanted to find popular tweets of #Dieselgate.

Half dozen one, six of the other. I mainly use Google, because I'm used to it, and still have lingering sentiments from when Bing blew chunks. But now that I'm using Curtana a bit more, Bing is OK. Google does sometimes irk me in how they're BECOMING EVIL, with so many promotions and paid results. Still, Google is my gold standard.

But I think it's healthy for there to be competition on the search engine front. There's a real danger in letting something so important fall into one company's hands.

I have to agree with you especially if you are looking for tech solutions but Bing is not much better. Although I do get some relevant results many are so dated even from last decade it does not matter.

It seems that Google search only gives you pages like "10 Common Blah Blah Problems & How to Fix Them" but what really gets me peeved is when I find a page I am looking for and all it is links to links. A page that just has links to other forums I read already. There was even a link to a different page word for word what I posted on another page.

Google search only cares about pushing ads. Years ago I use to find anything on Google but now I struggle with many paid junk links. I really wish Apple would do a search engine. They would kick butt.
