Bio Shock PC on a mac, any problems?

Hi I've just got a new Macbook Pro & I'm going to load Windows onto it for playing games.

Anyway i'm thinking of getting Bio Shock & playing it through boot camp,

my system is a MBP - 2.2 C2D, 2gb ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 128MB SDRAM. The current 15" basically.

It seems to be powerful enough, but looking online it said there was troubles on some PC's (it didn't mention macs). Has anyone played it on a similar system to mine?

You should be fine, the only issues I've heard with the 8600M GT involve PC video drivers, but since it's an Apple card and they have their own video drivers, I think it will run great.

Apple doesn't have their own drivers for Windows.

I'm going to get one fairly soon... my ps2 graphics are feeling dated so I thought I'd see what the MBP was capable off.

I run on it on the same mbp you have quite well. With a few little tweeks and such I have the framerate averaging about 25 while still maintaining the lovely textures n such. If you set everything to medium and lower the resolution you get a steady 30 fps.

It will run very slowly (at native resolution and medium/low detail), that's the only problem you may have. But this is the only game that runs better in DX10 than in DX9. Vista is faster than XP in one app

Bioshock is one of the most power hungry games I have ever seen. I picked up the box one day and looked and I think I pee`d a little. I think I would have to agree get a xbox to play it. Thats my plan...Right after I get Halo and play it till my wife threatens divorce...

The drivers for Windows aren't made by Apple. At best Apple does do some repackaging of component manufacturer's drivers. At worst they just use the same installers you can find online from from the component manufacturer.

You do know what Apple means by "Updated graphics drivers", right?

Xbox 360 != PC

Uh, no. An XBox360 as much a PC as a Mac is. Plenty of the same hardware, but the software is different.

The benefit of playing Bioshock on a 360 is that you don't need to worry about compatibility and drivers. The downside is that you can get far better graphics out of the PC version, and also I prefer using a mouse for FPS games. The XBox controller with 'auto aim' just dumbs down a great game.

i played the demo at high settings and native resolution on that same laptop (SR mbp 2.2 stock). It ran at about 10-15 fps..not that great..but this was on max. Medium should be playable.
