hi there,

picked up a locked iphone 4, to UK orange (now EE). i am trying to jailbreak the firmware.. as when i picked it up the previous owner already whipped all the data on, and was stuck at iphone activation screen, now. I used sn0wbreeze and i downloaded the iphone 4 [GSM] release for the iphone, however once I placed upon my iphone, the phone is now STUCK at the Apple Logo, and will not go past..

how can I do this? Have I downloaded the correct software?

thanks.

hi,

it's 6.1.3, but unfortunately. it was on 6.1.2 but the previous owner already upgraded.

"missing keys.plist data"?

hang on, just looked about.

says i need to select firmware, done this and got "failed to decrpyt kernel??

got it into a state that is not on boot logo, but not jailbroken and on iphone activation screen..

You need to point it to 6.0 IPSW

download 6.0 and go to extras/select IPSW
Select 6.0
Go back to main menu jailbreak, just boot

Should be able to get into the phone f5om the activation screen

still having a lot of problems, have private messaged you... to add you on skype..

so,

do i download IOS 6.0 and port it to this ? but i got iOS 6.1.3 on this iphone ?

is this the way?

Restore to a normal(unjailbroken) 6.1.3 firmware. THEN, launch Redsnow, select the iPhone 4 GSM 6.0 firmware, and click jailbreak and follow instructions. Do not close Redsnow. After it reboots, go back and click Just Boot and follow instructions.

thank you,

i am currently downloading the software now, how does this work when the ios is older then 6.1.3?

right, so i have hackivated it, however it does not show cydia? I have pressed "just boot" but is stuck on waiting for reboot..

The reason why pointing to a iOS 6.0 firmware to jailbreak/just boot on redsn0w works is because the iPhone 4 is jailbroken from a bootrom exploit (same "procedure" despite the different OS versions) and since redsn0w was never updated to support any firmware past 6.0, you have to point it to 6.0

this seems quite interesting, does it work?

Doubtful it works based on the lack of response(s)

Everytime you press just boot you need to point it to 6.0 first

No thst thread will not work, you need full valid shsh/blobs tp downgrade

ok, so i tried to use SAM to unlock the phone however this didn't work well for me..

You didn't say you needed it ulocked…

Btw unlock and jailbreak are not the same.

The SAM unlock route was closed somewhere in 2011.

The only option to unlock is call Orange or buy a grey market unlock online.
Or you can sel the phone and get an unlocked 1.

so how does this work ? how can i unlock ?

On the iP4 you can only software unlock the 1.59.0 BaseBand
If it is upgraded without preserving the old BB from 4.01 it will have the newest 4.12.02 BB which cannot be software unlocked.

You'll need a IMEI unlock from Orange or buy 1 online from the greymarket, the IMEI is added to an Apple whitelist of unlocked phones, everytime you connect to itunes the unlock status is checked with Apple servers. It is a permanent sollution, albeit expensive for some carriers.

There is a big thread here on IMEI unlocking.

Second choice is a SIM-interposer, an inlay for your own SIM which will unlock the phone, check Gevey.com for compatibilty with iP4/6.1.3

hi,

just a quick update, got the guy to unlock via orange so we'll see how long it'll take to do so now...

£20 was better then spending £190 at the market lol
