Well, last night i ordered my MacPro :D. Pricey, but will be totally worth it. I want to dual boot into windows for the occasional light gaming, and was reading rumors on how windows sata support on macpro's is really poor and slow, thus would i be able to pop in the 160gb ide hdd i have into the second optical drive bay? or would this have issues and glitches? thanks:D

Congrads! Putting your IDE drive into the optical bay should work just peachy, that's what a lot of people have been doing until recently to get full hard drive speed out of Boot Camp. You'll have to decide whether your Superdrive or IDE HD gets greater speed, though (remember: master rhymes with faster!)

That would work great. Just make sure to set the Superdrive to Slave, and the Hard Drive to Master.

It makes the Hard Drive operate 3 times faster.

Good luck! :D

yeah ..i read a bunch of posts on the SATA issue. :( well i know master will be faster but, (yeah but) i would rather have my optical drive open properly with the eject key. There has been one thing thta i have loved about a laptop in the last year. I haven't been able to thus haven't tinkererd around inside it, and thus haven't had any problems with my computer :p. I think i won't mind slightly slower ide speeds. at least it won't be 3mb per sec :p but rather 15 + ish. Sounds like what i will do ( i will miss my external hdd when i take out the hdd :D)
