Ok, first of all, part of the touch screen on my old iphone 4 broke, so verizon sent me a new one, so I've had two jailbroken iPhone 4's running 6.1 for the last few days. On the old one, BiteSMS works just fine, but on the new one, when I install BiteSMS, then go Settings>Notifications>Messages, it's set to badges only, meaning that checking the icon is the only way to know that I've gotten a new text. If I change it to Banners or Alerts, then close settings and respring, reboot, or kill the settings app, then it reverts to badges. I did a full DFU restore, and am still having the same problem. I can't find anyone else with the same problem, so I'm guessing I've missed something obvious. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I can't stand the native messages app after using BiteSMS for years

Yep, it's set to 'on', '5 recent items', 'none' under alert style, badge app icon 'on' show preview 'on' repeat alert 3 times, show iMessages form 'everyone', and view in lock screen is 'on'

try turning it off than reboot your phone, turn it on and select banners or alerts.

the badges setting is independant of the above settings, it only controls the badge number on the icon itself

Okay, now I'm confused...
Well, it worked! Quick reply works and I get my messages as notifications, but in settings>notifications, it still lists Messages as Badges only. Whatever, don't fix something that isn't broken. Thanks so much for the help and speedy replies.

Sorry, I saw the option before, but now i don't; how do I mark this as solved? thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I get no banner notifications and my alert settings are reset to none after every respring. It must be a bug with the app.

It worked perfectly until this morning, ten the same problem started again randomly. I took it out of notification center, rebooted, and turned NC back on with no luck.

Nevermind, for some reason sms alerts were off in SBSettings. It's working now.
