iPhone BiteSMS Running in Background? ( Battery Drain )

Just a background quickly,
iPhone 5, iOS 6.1, Bitesms 7.5.

I've always been a fan of bitesms until recently I've been experiencing battery issues.

After conducting a variety of tests, I realized that when Bitesms is running in the background, even when my screen is off, my usage time is going up. But when I kill the the app, the usage time stops when screen is off.

So, obviously bitesms is running something in the background that is affecting my battery.

Anyone experiencing this? Any explanation?

I've noticed my battery life took a hit since I installed BiteSMS. I just figured it was because I was using my phone more, but man, it gets HOT sometimes...
 
Yeah bitesms is without a doubt the culprit, I'm out at the bar and using it just to check timestamps and I am at 84% down from 98% before I came out two hours ago. Normally I would be in the 60% range because the signal here is horrible, this is good and bad news guess I'll have to manage it like I am right now until the developers fix it maybe.
 
Interesting, I don't recall bite ever being a culprit. However, I do notice that my iPhone 5 is absolutely horrible when in places of low signal reception, since the phone is constantly looking for signal. I'm not sure why it is worse than older devices, but maybe it is bite.
 
From the administrator from the bitesms forum:

"Guys, comon, if you ask the question is your battery life decreasing, you are going to get a lot of yes remarks.

There is NO way biteSMS can reduce your battery life, we run no background processes or threads, so once the phone is in sleep mode with the display off, there’s no way biteSMS can be using your battery."

Also you can use batterydective to find out which background processes eat your battery

Bad reception really zaps the battery, the phone is constantly reconnecting to the network.

I do understand that but I had really good battery life last night with bitesms closed and just using the default messages app.
 
Bitesms is not the culprit, my iPhone has better battery life now running on 6.1 than it did on 4.1. I do have a few bugs with Bitesms but that is a different story!
 
Go to the BiteSMS forums and comment to the devs over it, try to stay reasonable and I'm sure they'll be helpful and might even go through your logs to see if you post it. Also which version are you using? Beta or normal?
 
It does draw more battery being in the task menu compared to if it was closed. On their forum someone has started a topic on this issue under general, but no one has responded. It's best for those who are having issues, just to probably close it out when not in use.

If you use battrydectective you will find it will draw 0 from the battery when open and idle….

I'll give it a try, I've just noticed from 2days observation. What are your settings? I have it set up to send using carrier messages.
 
I've observed no problems; in fact, using Battery Detective, there's ZERO mAh drain when biteSMS is in the background--many backgrounded apps and tweaks use at least something, but not bite. With BatteryDoctorPro, you can actually see the last time an app was in use--leave bite backgrounded while you sleep, and assuming you received no drunk dialing texts overnight, you'll see the next morning it's not been on at all.

Given that tools specifically created to measure this kind of thing are saying it's a non issue, and the devs at bite are saying it doesn't use power unless it's actively used, I seriously doubt that it's causing any issues you're seeing. But download any tool and confirm for yourself.

Care to list your tweaks?

On another note I noticed an increase in battery life after uninstalling NCSettings so it was definately causing some problems somewhere for me. On the the other hand I've noticed no extra battery drain with BiteSMS.

NCSettings has already been confirmed as one of the biggest thieves.

Do you have a link(s)? I'm genuinely asking. I've searched through several threads here and elsewhere and, at best, there are conflicting opinions as to whether it has any impact on the battery (just like with most every other tweak).
