Before I say anything, I'd like to point out that I am brand new to bittorent, but decided a few weeks ago I'd give it a try.
I started with the default bittorent app. It worked well for a while (usually over 100 kb/s), but I started to get really slow download rates (a few kb/s). I switched to Vuze, and the download speeds shot up to over 100 kb/s. However, I do have a super fast Japanese fiber optics connection which usually tests at over 60000 kb/s with uploads about 10000 kb/s. But I was still happy with over 100 kb/s.
Then it started to slow down. It's been about 20 kb/s for the better part of a day and I've been trying to figure how to make it faster. I realize that some of it is leechers and seeders, but really, I could simply download this of the internet for faster. At one point it shot up above 200 kb/s and then dropped again, for no apparent reason.
I just tried my luck with port forwarding. Being in Japanese it was somewhat difficult to navigate, but I think I got it. Well not really. I just realized I might have put the wrong IP address on. Would I have to plug in 192.168.x.x? or would I have something more permanent?
Anyways, I'd really like to take advantage of my fast connection, so I guess my final question is this: how do I max out my bittorrent downloads?
Thanks for your help.
