Make sure you read the entire article though. You don’t gain complete control of the button, which is unfortunate. You just essentially choose whether a single or double click of the button opens it.

Why does one need two different ways on the same button to do the same thing?
Single press - (Google, if you assign it)
Double press - Bixby
Press and hold - Bixby

I haven’t even thought about what I want to remap my button to. Does the galaxy active have Bixby?
I might give Bixby another chance then before I disable the button. Unless I can get the google assistant on the active but I doubt it.

I haven't had to say "Ok Google" in a long time. I tap and icon and I'm good to go.
@Shanghaichica No idea but I've gone from disabling Bixby using the paid app, bxActions Pro, to sometimes using it for weeks at a time. Admittedly, I only have Bixby set to present me news via Flipboard since it's a fairly clean app with good legibility. I haven't toyed around much with RSS readers or news crunching apps much over the last several years and just go with what seems easy to read. It and the BBC app are fine for my needs. For regular sites with mobile view, I opt to read through Firefox with a blocker and an extension to bypass some of those annoying paywalls which is available through GitHub.
Edit: I think Samsung will be offering the ability to remap Bixby for all Galaxy phones soon, unless I misread an article I'd read a few days ago.

Yeah active run via bixby and it’s used for buds so will try bixby out for a while

Is that the fastest way to access it though? - Do you need to unlock the phone first? Doesn’t the voice prompt negate the need to unlock?
Assistant allows me to unlock and lock my phone with my voice. You train it a few times and it won't unlock or lock for others. Custom phrases can be used, too. You can integrate it with third-party locking services, too. The only drawback IMO is Google Assistant does not allow for a free-for-all phrase in audio means by way of another language.
As for your question, it is possible to set GA like Siri during the initial setup of GA. I skipped mine because I wasn't paying attention. Regardless, all it takes is uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Ideally, any phone Apple or other should allow for voice unlock without a specific phrase typed into the phone as a command during any setup. I feel that poses a security risk regardless of any enclave being used. The ability to use a custom word or phrase and not be limited to inputted language or spoken language would guarantee the inability for anyone to access the phone unless they had a pristine recording. And even then I suspect Android or iOS have the ability to recognize it as a recording and prevent access.
That said, security wise I prefer a pin and with Android you get 16 characters. iOS 12 allows for 32 or more, but past 8 characters the time to get in increases. Brute forcing the typical 4-6 character pin if varied takes a long time.
Pattern, face unlock, fingerprint, etc. are unique but I believe these can be easily exploited regardless of handset maker or OS. Android has a set delay unless it's changed by the OEM in question. After X amount of attempts, the device reboots and wipes itself to factory.
