Target and Best Buy always have best deals normally comes gifts cards not sure about 256GB....

Just Google Black Friday 2016 get idea.

I had looked up deals a few months back to compare what the Black Friday 2016 deals were like. The best ones were $125 -$150 off of the 9.7" ipad pro which had also just been released not long before.

I ended up buying an 10.5" ipad pro from B&H Photo because they have the 256GB LTE model $80 off, tax free, and free shipping (excited for it to deliver tomorrow :-D). If a better deal pops up for this year's Black Friday event, my Credit Card has a price protection policy that I will claim.

Can we just get through Halloween before all the Christmas garbage!
No, because stores have been conditioning us to start thinking about Christmas, i.e., decorations are already going up.

As for deals, I think it will be less about price cuts and more about some sort of gift card.

HAHA, yes indeed but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

I want a 10.5 inch Pro & am hoping for some holiday deals, gotta save a bit when I can. Gift cards to stores I frequent aren't a bad deal.

I want a new Ipad air 2 64 gb, I have to wait until black friday, expect to see discounts of $100 from this model. Oh I already bought a case on pre sale from promopure, just can't wait:p

Did the same thing on the 256GB LTE 10.5 from B&H. With the no-tax, I saved $170 off the Apple standard price + tax here in town. Delivery on Friday.

Does anyone think the 12.9 second generation version might get a special discount as well? Or is it clear by now only the 10.5 will be getting a reduction for Black Friday?

EDIT: Nevermind, I've just noticed Best Buy is offering a $100 discount on it! Should I pull the trigger, or wait for a better discount (if it happens?).

If they can discount some many items on Black Friday to pump sales. Why not just keep the margins low all the time and dominate all sales?

They're not doing it only to pump sales....retailers know that people will spend a lot of money on holiday shopping as gifts for family, friends, or even themselves. The discounts on these items are to get people to come to their stores and hopefully buy other items from them while they are there. Thats why you see so many of the same discounts at Target vs Best Buy vs Walmart. The "door busters" are to attract the customers to the store itself and then they make their money off those same people buying multiple items.

If you really look into the discounts in detail...iPad for example...its really not THAT much better than deals you can find sometime throughout the year. $125-150 off an iPad pro is certainly good, but I know Best Buy and other retailers have done up to $100 off multiple times this year. So this is just a little bit better...

Ultimately, if those deals lasted year round, people wouldn't be excited with the anticipation to shop and spend money. Its mostly psychological.
