I used to use eyeglass cleaner and 99% isopropyl. A quick swipe and all the oil was gone. Note I can't tell you if there will be any long term ill-effects since I don't have the MB anymore. During the 4 months I owned it, it was fine though.
Ah just spring for the iKlear polish online. Your baby is worth it and then you don't have to worry about it. Cleans the screen too.
You can use it but if you have long term grease build-up it won't do you any good. You should buy a cloth from radtech.us to put between your keyboard and screen to prevent any further long term build up.
If your BlackBook is new, it's grease. If it's over a month or two old, and you use it with any regularity, it's probably worn off the matte plastic finish, and it's permanently disfigured. I recommend a moshi palmguard which are much nicer than the marware and seem more durable too (the blend better, are harder and also, I think, protect against the common cracks because they cover the spot that is frequently hit by the display bezel 'bumpers' and are hard enough to disperse the impact over a larger surface). In addition the black iskin is protects the keyboard and feels pretty good too.
On the other hand, sometimes I feel it's crazy that we should have to protect our macbooks like this. Shouldn't they stand up to everyday usage for more than a few days before losing their beauty?
