iOS Black Notification (for lack of a better word)

I have noticed a few apps use black box for small notifications in the app. I have been looking for awhile and I cannot find an API for it. I assume there is an API somewhere because I have seen a few apps with this in it.

Here is an example of Tweetie 2 using it. Can anyone point me to the right API to use these? Thanks!

I don't believe there is an API for this. You'll have to roll your own.

I decided to just to use a buttonless UIAlertView and it worked okay.
