EDIT : fixed, you can see my answer in the bottom

Hi,

I tried to play some Black Ops 4 lately, but I tend to crash every now and then (well no error, the game just exits to desktop), with the game fully maxed on my iMac Pro base model (Vega 56), except resolution scale to 60% in 5K.

Usually happens after 2min, but sometimes can be instantly after I choose my class on the Jungle map...

Only way I manage to have it worked for at least 2 games in a row (didnt try more) is by putting textures detail from 4/4 to 2/4 (Medium, so looks like ****).

I was wondering if it was my iMac Pro failing since I barely tested any game but the ones I tested had no issue (some games on OSX, but not sure Rise of the Tomb Raider is as intensive.)

GPU t° was 90° in CoD but I dont think it's the issue, since it went up to 95° and doesn't crash/exits when I set textures to Medium (2/4). Seems memory related to me.

Also tried to put my fans at 100%, temperature never went > 85° for sure (since the game displays it if so) but still crashed the exact same if textures were set to High or Very High (Very High is the worst, almost instant).

I'm running Windows 10 1809, tried on a previous build too, both clean install, and different HDD for both, same thing.

Any reports about this game from you guys? Even on other Mac ? Tried different drivers for the Radeon (official ones for Bootcamp or unofficial ones, same thing).

Thanks

Try bootcampdrivers.com and playing on 1440p. Maybe this helps! Don‘t forget to scale at 100 % then.

Didn't try 1440p but did try something < 5K and it crashed the same. Using bootcampdrivers.com ofc.

You have the game? Or a iMac Pro?

Sooooo.

My issue is fixed.

I didn't expect this to be the issue, since I had done the "Blizzard repair check" twice in a row (basically their in built hash checker) and it said the game was fine.

Obviously it was not, because it works now that I redownloaded it straight in a row. No crash at all anymore!

Don't trust their Battle Net repair/game checker. Maybe it works with WoW, but definitely does not with CoD Black Ops 4.
I now have 2 copies of the game, one that crashes instantly with textures set to High+ and one copy that doesn't crash!
