Soon I'm going to buy a new MacBook but I dont know which color looks cooler without talking of money which one do you prefer?
In my case sometimes I want the white one but I dont want to suffer with those typical stains of the white model and also if you know a solution something like a cover or i dont know to prevent those stains, another point is that maybe the white color can get dirty more easily with the time but it looks so beautiful...
The black is new and it looks really cool, distinguish and different many of the MacBook that Ive seen are black and they look very beautiful and it has the cons of been black it doest get dirty so easily in comparison with the white model...
And if we talk about money I want to configure the white one with these specifications:
2 GB RAM
120 GB HDD
Western Spanish keyboard
or with the black one I would only add the 1 Gb ram sticks and change the keyboard the difference of price is of 50 bucks..i've the money so its not a problem right now but I want to know your experiences with those colors..
yes I know I think a lot about these subject but also I'm very excited this MacBook it would be my first Mac..I fall in love with Apple since I was a 6 years old kid because everything I know about computers, all my abilities everything was using a Mac in my school my first true love it was the iBook clamshell graphite but it was an impossible dream...I changed of high school 3 years ago and they have PCs so I havent used a Mac for 3 long years..horrible
I've the money so now it's just matter of time..
What advices can you give also before buying a MacBook?

well, in my opinion, the black one does look cooler, but it has its cons too. When i had my white macbook, i never had a problem with palmrest stains. i kept it clean and it was never an issue. i know that with the blackbook, although i havent had mine long enough to see this problem, you can wear off tyhe matte finish on the trackpad and palm rests. and remember, even with the same specs, the black is gonna cost 50 bucks more. It does look amazing thought. but again, remember that part of the appeal of macs is the white simplicity that is not seen on any other computers. there are black computers, allthough none of them look as sick as the black macbook. so personally i would go with the black

I'm a traditionalist so I like the white, but there are plenty of different opinions. In fact, there are quite a few threads 'round here with other members' opinions already written down for you so maybe do a quick search to see what you can find. It'll be quicker than waiting for this thread to fill out. :)

the black one gets pretty dirty as well..but it's personal preference. i got black because years of white made me totally sick of it.

plus it looks a LOOOOOT sexier :p

Personally I prefer white. I saw a black one at a train station a while back and I just thought it looked a little cheap.
White has more class (to me).

We have both a white MB and a black MB in our house. When I first got the white one they were still having that discoloration problem with the plastic.
They have since fixed that and they also replaced my palm rest area.
I don't see any problems with keeping it pretty clean.

The black one shows grease and oil stains a LOT. If you ever need someone's fingerprint just have them touch your blackbook. If we had known that it would show this much we probably would have gotten another white MB.

Hope this helps!!

I think if you get a Black one.. it will look just like any kind of laptop from a far. With the White ones, you will instantly know it's a Mac. Cheers!

I thought just the opposite. Except I wasn't on a train...I just saw a white one and a black one side by side and thought the white looked too delicate.

Maybe it's just me, but every-time I see a blackbook I'm thinking, wow this guy spent a few hundred bucks more just to show off. Then again there's so many whitebooks all over my campus, I can sort off understand why.

Black all the way!!!!

You no what they say, once u've had black you'll necver go back!

I think all the apple stuff looks sooo much kooler in black!

But at the end of the day it all depends on what u like! No 1 else! :)

Thats why i want a black MacBook. :)

Also, the screen will look slightly better with a black border, and worse with a white border.

I'm the same way, I see a black one and think, that person just wants to just show off and flaunt the fact that they paid extra just to look cooler, but I'll be damned if I'm not jealous everytime I see one! I myself am quite happy with my white MB. The Mr Clean magic eraser does wonders for keeping it looking good.

White:

1) although many people disagree, I think it looks a lot better than the black
2) the power adapter on the black one is still white, so it looks out of place
3) the white one is cheaper, even if you get the same config

The black one shows grease and oil stains a LOT.
I personally think the less visible grease stains on the black one are better than the ink/pen/pencil/scratch marks on a white one. Having had multiple iBooks, I can only tell you it is absolutely exhausting how dirty it got inside my bag (which had sufficient padding itself, so I didn't use a space-consuming sleeve or anything for it). I regularly wiped it off once or twice a week.

I eventually started scribbling on my iBook with a pencil for notes on the go. At least it looked more interesting than just generic smudges and ugly scratches.

Maybe I'm oldschool, but I liked the glowing Apple logo+black case on the G3 PowerBooks, which gave me more reason to get a black MB over a white one. You know, cause there was a time when Apple sold black laptops not so long ago.

I would just think the $$ is better spent on upgrading the white.
Yes, but when you hate white like I do for various reasons, some of which have been mentioned in this thread, going for the black MB (if it's the color you want) is vastly cheaper than a paint job where some parts will remain white, while on the black MB everything is black, even the keyboard.

It's really not that. I hate white. I will pay extra for a different color, be it from Apple, or with a paint job or some sort of skin like gelaskins - http://www.gelaskins.com/4/4_2_0.php?CategoryID=7&p=1 , which is more expensive or not as feasible or nice. One gelaskin is roughly a third of the cost of getting a black MacBook over a white one.

the magic eraser is godly. i used to use it on my iBook often.

But honestly, how is getting a black one ANY different from customizing it any other way?
If anything, I'm tempted to get a couple of Gelaskins to use with my entirely black MB. I absolutely cannot stand white, and if I had to go with white, I'd paint it myself or get it painted or covered up in some way.
