Black Patches or Spots on Apple Cinema Display

Hello All,

I have two Apple Cinema Displays, they are about 3 years old, I take excess care of these monitors and clean them regularly and they have never been exposed to any damage and my screen saver mode is set to turn off the monitors after one minute. I am baffled as to what could have happened and if there is any kind of solution to fix this. I have not contacted Apple about this issue yet, I wanted to check with the community first.

It may be shadows caused by the backlight grommet/seal which can come loose.

If that is the case, with appropriate tools and precautions it can be stuck back down if you are out of AppleCare.
