MP 1,1-5,1 Black screen after format on a 5,1 2010 single core.

Heya peeps!

I formatted my boot SSD to do a fresh install of Mojave. Mojave was working, however I decided to do a fresh install.

I formatted the drive, rebooted and now get a black screen.
No problem right? Just throw the original GPU that came with it back in.
Still black screen.

Try the newer RX570 which had worked previously back in and try again?
Still black screen.

Command-R on start up is still a black screen. The difference is that I have to hold down the power button to turn it off. If I power it up regularly, a single quick-press of the power button turns it off.

Important data is on my 3 HDD sleds so I just need to get the boot working, no saving data is not a concern here.

I'm not sure what the culprit is, so I thought I'd try another forum

mac pro 5,1 black screen

Hi! I've been trying to solve a problem with my cMP 5,1. Whenever I power it on, it plays the chime sound and then all i get is a black screen and after a couple minutes it shuts off. No apple logo nor white screen and i cannot get into recovery mode through command+R or the boot disc selection...
