I have an iMac 21.5 late 2015 the model is 16.2, in which I just installed a Samsung 860 EVO external SSD in a Sabrent case, the ssd works fine at good speed when you use normal computer.
The problem is that when the computer is turned on before the apple logo appears, the screen remains black for 30 seconds.
I have seen that it is a common problem but I have not found a solution, I have tried reinstalling Catalina and formatting the ssd in APFS and in HSF + and the problem continues to appear, I have also run first help in the disk utility, and I have put the ssd as boot disk, it is not a very annoying problem but I would like to know if it has a solution I would really appreciate it if someone can help me, sorry for the English I am using the google translator.
