Hi All

I got my Mac Mini Tuesday, and it has been on 7 hours before getting my first Black Screen.

Problem is,I got the Mini to use Logic Pro,so do I buy Logic,or not.

I am just after your opinions, not tell me what to do.

If I buy Logic then the Min has to go back,or is exchanged, what happens to Logic?

Bye the way, this is my first Mac,and it's great, black screen and all.

Alan

you may find these at amazon uk

as for what if you buy software and return the machine. depends if you purchased at the apple online app store with you account you may be able to put it on a new mac. Not sure about the uk and not sure about all software.

I have just switched to HDMI T/Bolt cable after the black screen.

I have only had 1 in 7 hours, that was using HDMI to HDMI.

I don't want to send it back,I like it too much to be without now.

Come on Apple, make a new user, and this forum, happy and at least acknowledge the problem.

Alan, I was not only getting black screens on my base mid 2011 mini, I was also getting kernel panics on restart. Ever since I stopped using the HDMI out, all the problems went away. It's been over a month now since I've had any problems. Go figure........

Thank Mr McMac

That makes me feel a lot better.

I wonder how many others have switched to HDMI / T/Bolt
and remained trouble free.

Reckon tomorrow I will just go for Logic, after all, that's why I bought the Mac in the first place.

I'm glad you feel better. After reading several threads on this issue, I also feel better. Right now I'm using a thunderbolt to VGA cable I purchased fro monoprice.com on my 40" Samsung HDTV. So far so good. Before I was so upset in my decision to replace my old 2007 Mini, which worked fine for my needs, with the new one. Almost everytime I rebooted, I'd get "Your Computer Was Restarted Because Of A Problem" error message, plus the black screens a few times a day. I've also had snowy screens as well. All is well now and I'm thrilled!

All the best Alan, I hope you get yours sorted soon!

Glenn

Thanks Glenn

I will keep my eye on it but as it is my very first Mac,I would like it to be a good experience which it has been up to now.

Logic Pro tomorrow.

I have a Thunderbolt display and a Dell monitor which is hooked up to the HDMI port using the provided adapter. If I were to get the TB to DVI adapter and plug it into the back the the TB display, would that eliminate the black screen problem?
