iPad Black “Sensor” on Top Edge of M1 iPad Pro

Received a 2021 M1 11in iPad Pro 5G today that was purchased from eBay. On the top edge, there is a black oval, that looks like the Apple Pencil magnet that is on the side, but it not magnetized. I’ve scoured the inter-webs but have not found anything that would explain what this. My 2020 4G iPad Pro does not have this.

If you can post a picture we could be more certain. I'm in the EU where iPhones and 5G iPads do not have that mmWave antenna window as the mmWave 5G is not available, and I just can't find a proper picture of the sides of the US version of the iPad Pro showing that window.

Anyway if it looks like the mmWave antenna window on the iPhone 12 & 13, then that's it:

I have the Wifi Version of the Pro 11 and mine does not have this area, so I think it is related to 5G.

That’s the mmWave 5G antenna window (specific to US 5G models).

None of the models sold in Europe have this, even 5G cellular models don’t, as we don’t have mmWave 5G up and running yet.

Agree as i have both the 2021 11" & 12.9 cellular (UK versions) here and none of them have that black oval part.

That's the 5G mmWave. US versions of iPhones also have this on the right side.
