Black sports bands, have they been revised?

Decided to get my bsb replaced as it was showing signs of wear. One thing I noticed from the start was that it felt different to my white band but it's difficult to explain it, you have to feel it.

Anyway my replacement bsb came today and it feels the same as my white band and looks like it has a different finish. Have apple revised them or are they just as prone to wear as they always have been?

My BSB I got with my Watch a week after launch definitely feels different from my Blue Sport Band I bought about a month later. The black band is stiffer and smoother... while the blue band is stretchier and more supple.

How does that match up to what you're seeing?

I know exactly what you're talking about. My Blue Sports band feels more like plastic compared to my Black Sports band which feels more like rubber.

My black band is the complete opposite, and my blue and green bands are also the complete opposite from what you have described. My black is stretchier, while the blue and green are stiffer.

Got a replacement black band last week from Apple since my original started peeling. Not even a week yet and this one is peeling just as well. Back to the Apple store so let's see what they say.

This is weird... you might want to try a different store. The forum posts on this are almost polar opposites: either people are having major peeling problems pretty early, or the bands have been perfect. I am in the latter category. I wear mine daily and have run a few dozen times already with it. Maybe there is either a bad supplier or a bad batch of bands out there.

Yes its really bizarre. The original 38mm watch I had during launch was flawless, but I think I may be stuck with a bad batch of bands with my new 42mm. Got off the phone with Apple support just now and spoke with a senior technician. He agreed with me that the peeling is not normal at all and is sending out a replacement ASAP. Should have it tomorrow so let's see how this one is.

The difference of feeling between sport bands of different colors is normal. It has been documented on one of the threads on this forum. It is due to the fact that the different bands are composed of different dye colors therefore slightly altering the texture/feel of the bands.

That can't be all of it. Look at my post above compared to Mlrollin91's post. We have nearly exactly opposite experiences with the same colored bands. This means that it's some variability in the manufacturing process itself, and not just being different for the various colors.

as someone mentioned, there is a bad batch of BSB. Cuz i've been using my BSB (ordered on day 1) 3-4 days a week to play racket sports. So its been through sweat like crazy and I see no sign of wear (except where the metal pin contacts with the band).

So mine cant be the same with those appears on the internet with problems.

There's also a difference in the initial weights based on colour. Black is definitely "different".

The small sport bands may weigh slightly less than the large sport bands, but the different colors also weigh different amounts.

• White: 47g/51g
• Blue: 44g/48g
• Green: 43g/48g
• Pink: 42g/46g
• Black: 37g/40g

So, if you want the lightest band possible, you're looking at the black. If you want the heaviest, you're looking at the white.
