Alright so I plan to get a plan for my blackberry so i can use internet and other things to the fullest extent.

however i also have a iphone 3G lying in its box all brand new. i have decided not to sell it and instead keep it.

Now i heard that i need the blackberry plan to get email showing up on my blackberry. otherwise i'll get nothing. I was wondering if i buy the blackberry plan for for my current number. can i use it on my iphone and the data services will all work? i have heard of ATT switching your service to an iphone plan

or perhaps using a iphone plan primarily, and email and data will still work on my blackberry?

i did some research and both the iphone and blackberry plan will cost the same for me either way. so the cost isnt going to change right now. i just need to know if i should get a blackberry or iphone plan. and will email work on my blackberry if i buy a iphone plan.

Wirelessly posted (BB 8900: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

You will need the blackberry plan: no bis, no blackberry email. It's as simple as that. I swap my sim between my 3g iPhone and 8900 on AT&T all the time, and I've never had a problem. There are reports of people getting texts after a few days saying "iPhone data plan required" but plans are not switched without your permission and no overage charges etc assessed.

technically i think they could switch the plan without asking your permission but i highly doubt they will because the plans are the same price.

You have to tell them to switch but same price. You can do it all online with out talking to a human.

like visual voice mail on the iPhone

Yep blackberries all have Visual Voice main with the latest OS update. By christmas blackberries OS 5.0 will be out and it will have threaded SMS like the iPhone.
