Well...I didn't know BB was still releasing phones. But here is their latest effort.

I'm wondering if that's actually a Sammy Amoled edge display or if the screen is just curved. Nonetheless, glad to see John Chen has stopped the bleeding at BB and now open to new horizons. The founders and Heinz were completely clueless and lacking vision. If Chen doesnt bring BB back full circle, they are done.

It's more reminiscent of a Lumia phones slightly curved screen. Indeed the bottom of the phone and shape looks like the old Nokia N9.

Supposedly it's coming to all carriers. I just don't see this phone gaining any traction. Other than the keyboard what else could they offer among other android handsets?

I am guessing it's their security thing that they were in deals with Google to provide some special encoding / security. Also if you previously liked or use Blackberry but we're maybe thinking of jumping ship this might hold you in the blackberry fold and help retain some of their existing customer base.

What does any phone other phone offer thats that much better? Its rumored to have a MircoSD slot so at it at least has expandable storage. What does a Note 5 offer other than a pen? Or the S6 edge other than a curved screen (BB Venice has that as well), or the S6 with a fingerprint scanner? Or a Lg G4 with buttons on the back? You get the drift. Personally in a world of glass slabs, I think a phone that has good specs (which this is rumored to have) and something that makes it really different from everything else will sell well.
A lot of people miss the keyboard on their old BB, and having the option to have that on newer hardware (flagship quality) really hits that nostalgic sweet spot. I can't use a BB10 phone because of app compatibility (Ive tried) but having a high quality hardware keyboard phone along with android lets me do that.

I wonder if those tweaks replace the stock, or they kept both.

Personally I think its a launcher that has a very stock feel (sorta like motorola). I think there will be the hub if you swipe all the way to the right (sorta like how samsung touchwiz used to be). I hope its just stock with hub, bb calendar and a couple things and not too bloated but we'll find out soon enough

I agree. It would be their on version of "TouchWiz". If they can integrate it smoothly like the latest Note5, they could have something really appealing.

I like it! I doubt it would take me away from my current. No good reason other than a keyboard but... I like it.

Agreed. I think it's actually a pretty solid looking device, both in design and hardware build. It's not the thinnest phone but looks like they did a pretty good job considering it's got a keyboard. Pretty small bezels as well.

Will definitely be curious to see how it performs if it ever does make it to market.

Spot on. +1

I actually like it, and sure hope it competes well with the Samsungs, LGs and iPhones.

Bringing back the keyboard is a nice way to differentiate, I know many people who would love it if their Galaxy or iPhone had a physical keyboard.

You know when I was using Symbian on my old Nokia N81 8GB, I really wanted the best of both a portrait physical keyboard and touchscreen. One company did it exceptionally well:

Palm
With the Palm Pre, I honestly thought I'd get one back in 2009, but they never made it down here and I actually settled on Android.

BB Venice looks like the MeeGo OS Nokia N9 had a baby with the WebOS Palm Pre, lol.

Interesting times ahead...

BB10 was my favorite phone OS before they ruined it with lousy updates. I feel after a few years of being on the right track, this is a bad move. I don't want an Android phone. And if I did, I wouldn't get a BlackBerry.

This is DOA. The amount of people who want a physical keyboard is few and far between, and there is just too much competition for a phone that seemingly offers nothing.

Corporations is where they use to make their money, and they definitely will not tap into that market.

No disrespect but I do not understand where people keep getting this "offers nothing" or "no different" in regards to this phone. It IS different, I mean just look at it.
2015 has been the most mediocre year in terms of phones. Apple is gonna release a phone that looks the same as the previous model, Lg G4, OPO, Samsung, Sony are all releasing phones that are very similar if not identical to their predecessors. Aside from samsung, the rest don't look radically different from the previous model. Plus, as someone who grew up in a time when everyone and their mother wanted a BB, people really do miss the keyboard. On top of that, if you want to use the virtual option you can with the keyboard slid up.

BB can barely sell BB10 devices (I can't use one because of poor app availability), so android is the only way BB can keep their hardware division alive. Hell, they only have to sell ~5mil in a quarter for it to be a success. All I know is that, this is the most different, exciting phone thats coming out in 2015.

BlackBerry running Android is an absolute heresy and not a BlackBerry anymore. It is just a painkiller to prolong the agony.

Honestly, what would be the unique selling point of such phone, besides of the brand itself? The physical BB keyboard?!

Sad...
