Blacklight Retribution: Does not display proper resolution at start up

This must be specific to the Retina MacBook Pro. Installed the game through Steam, but when I launch it, the entire screen shows only roughly the top left quadrant of the entire image. So I can't move my mouse to click on whatever there may be in the center of the image to progress into the game.

The game doesn't seem to understand the wizardry going on with the resolution of the rMBP.

Has anyone been able to work around this? The game looks too good to not try considering it's free.
