BlackRa1n Didn't Work......Now What?

Well....I've tried running Blackra1n on 3 different PCs......2 with XP service Pack 3.....one Vista in XP compatibility mode. Tried it about 40-50 times. Nothing seems to work. Looks like I'm stuck with 3.1.2 unjailbroken for now. Had to restore about 5 times as Blackra1n somehow randomly got the phone into recovery mode.....unable to get back. Talk about time consuming.

Anyone have a clue if/when the JB community will release a Windows based Pawnage?? I'm really missing GV Mobile!

All you need to do is download one of the custom ipsw's that are available and jb that way - no need to wait for a Windows-based pwnage that may or may not ever come.

I had your issue. Do not put vista in xp compatibility mode! When I did this, it did not work. I moved the blackrain file to my C Drive and simply ran it. It worked flawlessly for me.

I think I tried the c: trick.....but it may have been in compatibility mode....I'll take a look and give it a shot if I did......

edit: tried that.......didnt' work.....although....when it was stuck.....I power it off, it said it was done.......yet....when it came back on, there was no blackrain icon anywhere.....

The ipsw didn't work either. iTunes did the extraction for the file...said it was readying the iPhone...but then came back with some weird error. Dont' remember the number, but then I had to restore from backup....uggh! Again.....

Just call it persistence.....or a glutton for punishment......I just kept trying blacnkra1n.....and finally fisted it in there.....I had no idea there was a blackra1n screen that would come up (the picture of GeoHot.....or is that Harry Potter)......anyways....every time the recovery cable/itunes came up...I just turned the power off.....the final time....I was just ready to hit the power....when the screen popped up....in fact...as soon as the iTunes version popped up...I think I hit power and home...and then the Geohot pic came up.....so I let go...it did it's thing.....and BAM.....I'm back in Bid-Nizz!
