That is incorrect. I just JB'd my 3.1 5.xx.xx earlier today.

And in two ways too. Out first and also the quickest.

faster and sloppier. geohot's jailbreaks are always the temporary solution until the dev team releases theirs. the general rule of thumb is to avoid using geohot's shoddy stuff and wait for the dev team. if that is not an option, then restore once the dev team releases their stuff.

There is a fix for that if you search here. I cant remember completely but as far as I remember you hold down power and home as soon as it turns off (after clicking make it rain) then when it boots up release the home (i think) button and keep holding the power one. It will work then or at least it did for me.

Your correct but you have the button combo incorrect it's release the power button and hold the home button till you see his fugly face come up.
 
The version for Windows didn't work properly on my 3GS for some reason (things going wrong on Windows programs? *gasp*) but this worked perfectly! Setting up Cydia now, and I didn't need to restore or anything :)
 
now that pwnage is out i doubt i'll be using this version. i did really like purplerain because of how fast and easy it was. i do want to ensure that i keep the unlock on my 3GS.
 
Been a 3GS owner since release -- just used this last night to jailbreak my phone for the first time.

I love Winterboard and 5-item dock.

But -- I still can't shake that nervous feeling like I did something wrong. I keep checking my phone compulsively, expecting something to go wrong (like for the thing to spontaneously catch fire now that I've done somethnig to it).

That can't be normal.

broken winterboard, missing afc2, the list goes on. geohot's stuff is almost as bad as ziphone.

figure skating judges probably cant figure skate. that doesnt mean they cant judge figure skaters.
 
i'm sure this was answered before but i don't know.

if i jailbreak, i can get rid of it by restoring, right?
