Hey Guys,

Just bought my 3GS last week. Unfortunately it has the newest bootrom "iboot 357.3.2" or whatever. Anyways, what type of jailbreak do you guys suggest since this is a tethered JB. BlackRa1n or RedSn0w? I know that BlackRa1n is faster, but I hear that RedSn0w is actually better. Especially since i'm running a PPC Desktop (OS X Tiger 4.11).

What do you guys think?

Redsn0w is still in beta. If I were in your position, I would wait for it to be released. They are still finding problems with it, some of which are relatively major. That said, many people have had good luck with it and many people swear by blackra1n.

I have been waiting patiently, but my patience is wearing thin. I guess If I use blackra1n now, I can always re-jailbreak it when redsn0w comes out with something better.

But, if I buy something in cydia. Like "bitesms", one of my favorite apps. Then I re-jailbreak it. Will I have to buy the cydia apps again? or is it linked to the iphone somehow?

i havent had any issues with blackra1n.. the wifi issues everyone is talking about is also the same problems u experience if the phone wasnt jailbroken.. ( i know because i got a new refurb with the new bootrom and have not jailbroken this phone because i am waiting on an untethered jailbreak and still having wifi problems). but i jailbreak others cell phones and i havent had any problems with blackra1n.. and yes. u will be able to recover your apps. Most apps like bitesms record your serial number so if you restore or anything like that. and redownload bitesms automatically checks to see if you have purchased the app..
