I had this happen with another MacBook and cannot remember how I fixed it or if it just fixed itself.

When sharing something from my iPad to my MacBook, the MacBook shows with the proper name on my iPad, but the device icon above the name is blank. Anyone experience this and how to fix it?

Just came here to say that I have this issue, too. But only with my newly setup MacBook Air. My iPhone does not exhibit this behavior when using AirDrop with my older MacBook Pro.

I just remembered how to fix it.
On your Mac, open the Contacts app and export your own contact info to a vcard. Then delete your Contact info (if you're using iCloud, it will automatically be deleted from your other devices, too -- which is what we want in this case). Then double click the vCard to import it. Then, on your devices, set the newly imported card to be your card. Now when you AirDrop, the icon should not be blank any longer.

Good to know. I don’t have my previous MBP anymore to test. Obviously a little bug. Does not affect performance, just annoying. The MBA icon shows blank on my 15PM and iPad mini 6.

So I spoke too soon.
The fix is to: delete your contact card. Do not re-import it, instead create an entirely new one. I guess my contact info got corrupted ... somehow.

Guess I'll just wait for it to fix itself like it did on my last Mac. Not the biggest deal in the world though.
