Blank Bluetooth Profile..?

Could someone take a look at this screenshot and let me know what could possibly cause this?

I think it maybe happens when I connect/disconnect from my car's Bluetooth - but, can't pinpoint it.

After a reset it disappears. It's problematic because I'll be looking to either play something with sound or get a phone call and try to use my speakerphone, etc., but won't be able to hear anything because the phone has that blank profile selected under the AirPlay setting for some reason. Really frustrating.

I am having the same issue. mine seems to be when I disconnect my bluetooth headphones (mpow swift). so far only way to get the blank profile to leave is restart the phone. airplane mode, wifi, bluetooth off still leaves the blank profile.

seems to be 6s issue rather than ios because the same headphones did not do this on a 6 with the same ios rev (9.01)

Thanks for the post - so, I'm not crazy.

I'm on an iPhone 6 - I THINK it has to do with using the Bluetooth I installed in my vehicle. I think the phone gets confused between connecting to music/talking on phone/GPS directions cutting in, etc and that profile appears and gets stuck. Same as you posted - only a reset will get rid of it.

Very frustrating as my phone sometimes is connected to it without my knowing - I think it also gets in the way of my Bluetooth in my truck automatically connecting the way it should. The reason I installed the module I did was for the autoconnect (no wires, no settings, just go..) - and it worked correctly for a while but seems to have broke once this problem came up.

my car (2012 bmw) is working correctly, I tried audio, phone, nav (google and apple) and everything connected/disconnected/reconnected fine.

My mPow swift headphones however are definitely causing my blank profile issue. If i connect my headphones sometimes airplay will show mPow, sometimes it makes the blank profile, and other times airplay shows nothing.

if go to settings>bluetooth and press the disconnect then connect on the mPow profile athen mpow shows in airplay but the blank profile will never go away until a reboot.

Iphone 6 and 6s both show bluetooth 4.2 in apples spec sheet. The headphones worked fine on Iphone 6 (9.01) but dont work on Iphone6s (9.01)

As revealed in a report published recently by 9to5Mac, and citing information gathered from developer Squirrels, Apple’s changes to AirPlay is causing some mirroring app developers to build workarounds for the incoming changes so that their apps still work. According to the developer, which built the mirroring app Reflector, Apple changed the underlying protocols of AirPlay in a big way, specifically when it comes to the mechanism to connect mirrored devices:

“What Apple did this time around with iOS 9 updates is make a wide-sweeping change to underlying protocols that power AirPlay. A lot of the pairing setups (like how your mobile device interacts with a receiver) have changed. A lot of the exchanges between an iOS device and an Apple TV or any of the receivers have changed. The actual mechanism through which a mirroring connection is established was entirely overhauled. So, many underlying AirPlay components and protocols are entirely different in iOS 9. Not only at a security level but also with the way the two devices talk to each other.”

So, now what does that mean for the hardware we already own?

We should just eat that and accept the fact that stuff we've spent money on wont function as it used to?

i dunno, I'm guessing it still works fine for a lot of devices...but ones that don't follow spec are broke. My bmw, jaybird bluetooth headphones, denon amp, lg sound bar all seem to still work fine. But $20 bluetooth headphones dont.

kinda sucks but I can work around it by not letting the headphones auto-connect and replace these when an updated version of cheap headphones ship.

may check and see if you can firmware update what you added to your car/truck.

Yeah, I hear you on the cheap equipment bit. There's a reason they're priced that way probably.

The kit I put in my truck was like an $140 module - was hoping for better. Reputable company, doubt they'd fall short of full spec. I contacted them to see what they've got to say - we'll see.

There's a new setting in iOS 9 that solved one of my old BT issues with iOS. Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility and you'll find "Call Audio Routing" -- see if that helps any.

The "Automatic" setting doesn't do a great job.
