When I try inserting blank (brand-new) CD+ or CD- and DVD+ or DVD- discs, the slot-drive seems to accept the disc just fine. But then...

I hear 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", then the disc is ejected.

I have experimented w/different discs & get the same results each time: drive accepts the disc for about 30 seconds, never mounts it on desktop, then ejects it.

Any ideas? Help, please!!!

Seriously

Come on people. Nobody? Not even a point to an Apple Support article? People have these problems. I'M having this problem. Why not even a single reply?

I would take it to a Apple Store for them to look at it, or call AppleCare. If it won't let you burn any disk. Then it sounds like you SuperDrive isn't working right.

IMac ejects disc before Burning

I have exactly the same issue and it's pxxxxng me off. Anyone with any idea why this happens.

I was burning movies, TV series, music etc to DVD - R with no problems , then it just started ejecting the disc without commencing the burn. Very frustrating. My only possible idea is that the Discs I am using are inferior though they are supposed to be Sony DVD-R 4.7GB so ????

Scam

repair permissions with the install disc using the disc utility there !
if that doesn't solve it
call apple care or see a genius , thats what both are there for , even superdrives break down, only because they have a :apple: sticker doesnt make them any better
