I need some help with my computer. I was recently switching from OS 10.3 to 10.4, and after placing the first of four install discs, I left my computer loading updating, and upon my return I found that it had shut down.

Now, when I try to start up, I see the initial screen with the apple logo and the wheel turning, and then I see a blank blue screen. I can still move a mouse, but there is nowhere to click, no bar at the top of the screen and nothing happens when I click and drag.

I can't boot the computer up in Safe Mode, but I can enter single user mode. I've tried troubleshooting on the apple website, but nothing has worked. Before I take my computer in to be repaired, I'm wondering if there's someway I can force my computer to read the old OS X software discs I have and reload the original software. I think the problem might have been that I didn't buy Tiger, a friend burned a copy from me. Anyway, I'm worried that apple is gonna get upset at me for doing this, so I'm hesitant to take it in. I'm really fine with my old operating system, and would just be happy to be able to put it back on

Anyone know how I can get my computer to start reinstalling my old os off the start-up disc?

Put this disc in, turn off the computer, start it up while holding c. That should boot from disc.

Holding c while booting up with the disc in the drive doesn't work. I still get the blank blue screen. Anyone got any more advice to try?
