I've been using OS X Yosemite for a few days now, there aren't a lot of problems, but this bugs me - VLC and Transmission file icons (.mkv, .avi, .torrent) doesn't have any icons, just plain blank page.

Are the apps outdated for Yosemite? Or is there a way to fix this?

Haven't really noticed this behavior with other apps rather than those two.

Deleted all Cache folders:

/Library/Caches
/System/Library/Caches
/User/Library/Caches

rebooted, and the problem is gone.

It Worked!

HUGE thank you for posting this! I had the same problem with some different file types (MS Office file icons and a few others). It wasn't a show-stopper, but it was definitely bugging me. Your solution worked perfectly. Thanks!

Unfortunatelly deleting the caches doesn't solve the problem.
VLC file icons still missing.

Is there anything I can do besides wait for a VLC update?

I have both those apps on Yosemite and the icons are fine. How about delete the app and DL and reinstall?
