Blender vs DAZ Studio

I'm a complete beginner and I'm interested in learning some 3D modeling (not animation), just to make cool 3D faces and such.

Which is better for a beginner? Most important to be is ease of use and good tutorials available (preferably from the source website itself instead of some random user made ones on forums).

Has anyone had experience with both?

I would first try Blender, it may be a little easier to use.
