blinking charge indicator???

This morning I plugged in my 12inch PB and the green light started blinking on the charge indicator on the plug...I unplugged and plugged it back it and it persisted, but when I opened the computer the light went solid and then stayed solid...I'm confused, was it just not making a good connection? I have had problems with the plug because someone pulled the laptop off my desk at work this summer and the plug is now a little jacked up. Also, sometimes the light turns red, but when i wiggle the plug a little it goes back to orange.

So basically...what the crap happened? And, if I buy a new charger, does it matter if i get the 65 or the 85 ?

The 65 watt one would work, but it wouldn't charge fast. I borrowed one from my friends ibook once (65 watt) and used it on my 15" powerbook and it was ok, just didn't charge fast at all. You should get the 85 I would say, it wouldn't work the charger as hard either.

speaking from 3 years with a 12" powerbook, i never experienced what you described (never had a flashing light on the charger, nor did it ever turn red). i would guess that it was damaged when it was pulled off your desk. hopefully, this damage is limited to the plug itself, and not to the connector on your powerbook. if you can test this using another power adapter, you may be able to tell which is damaged.

as for a new charger, the only option available to you is a 65w adapter (the only 85w ones have the magsafe connectors for the macbook pro and macbook).

touche on the 85 v. 65 debate haha. Yea, i used my roommate's charger this summer as a test and it worked fine and did not have any problems. So I think the damage is limited to the actual charger.

well, that's good news if it's just the adapter that's damaged!

my rev. a powerbook came with a 45w adapter, and by the time i wanted to purchase a spare, the apple store i went to only had a 65w one. they said it would "step down" and charge my powerbook just fine. i was wary, but they were right. so, your adapter question is a valid one. in your case, it just happens to be that the new ones have a connector that won't work with your powerbook. if i were you, i'd use that as an excuse to buy a macbook. then again, i take any excuse for shopping that i can.
