Here's the deal. This just started happening yesterday. When my power cord is plugged into my MacBook Pro the LED blinks from green to amber every 2 seconds or so. When it blinks to green, the battery icon up by my computer clock reads charged. When it is amber, the battery icon reads not charged. When I unplug it completely and work off the battery charge, it'll say I have some battery left (maybe 25%, maybe 80%--it varies!), but then out of no where my computer will shut down.

It seems to run alright when it is left plugged in. The battery seems confused. Can I fix this or is there anything I can do to try to fix this? I'm not sure what the problem is.

We you part of the battery recall? I would check my serial against that list (on Apple's site).

If you can replicate your problem easily, I suggest you schedule an appointment w/ a Genius. I'm sure they'll replace your battery and possibly your AC adapter on the spot because it is such a hazard.

Also try this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319

Where can I find out more info about the battery recall? I might be apart of that. I have 17-inch MacBook Pro.

Thanks for the help guys.

Also, I tried what was listed on that link you gave me earlier and it didn't appear to have any effect on the problem.

Hmmm, you got a 17", that might be an issue w/ the battery recall since it's originally for the 15" batch. But I'd get it looked at anyways.

Pop out ur battery and match it to this list. https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/

I checked and it wasn't a battery recall issue. I guess I'll try to take it to an Apple repair site nearby and see if they will swap out the battery. If anyone else has any other ideas please post. :)

mine did the flashing from green to amber thing (and then it just stopped charging the battery completely and the light would stay green). i got a new battery from apple and have had no problems since!

oh yeah i have a macbook, not a MBP, but i still think it's your battery.
