Happy Black Friday a day early.

Blizzard is having a great deal on WoW.
WoW for $5.
BC for $5.
Lich King for $10.

Now is the time to get ramped up for Cataclysm.
Sale runs through 11/30.

Whoa, that's mighty tempting. Never played WoW because I've been put off by the subscription fees. have they been cut too?

Very nice, just upgraded to WoTLK. . .

Nah I dont think so jimmi, but why dont you give it a shot on a guest pass and see if it worth it. . . I mean yes the fees add up but paying $15 a month for entertainment is well worth it(at least for me lol). . . And if you do think its your cup of tea you can at least save a bunch on buying the clients. . .

think WoW is overcharging for an old game that takes monthly subscription.

I think they should give out game client for free...

Except that they have 15 Million customers willing to pay for an upgrade; there is little incentive to NOT charge for it.

You can download the "demo" client for free. If you gave it away for free they would have NO retail presence (why would a store carry it?) and it could significantly increase the bandwidth they need to supply.

Well, stores could still sell the prepaid cards.

There is very little profit in that for them. If the stores aren't carrying your main product line, there is very little chance that they will carry your accessories. Does Blizzard really need the retail chain? Yup, but not really for WoW, they need it for anything else they come out with. Thus they have to keep the retailers happy.
