block adult content?

Hi! I am new here even though I am a long-time mac owner (imac, powerbook g4, macbook pro; 3G ipod, 5G ipod with video, 1stG shuffle).

My question is about the iphone. I want to get one but before I do - Does anyone know how to block adult content on iphone? Can I set parental controls through safari preferences, or is there another way to do this through AT&T?

There are no settings for this on the iPhone. I doubt it is possible at this time - send a request to Apple to include it in the future though if you want. (You have to be 18 to activate the phone - so I doubt that they have a priority to keep children off of adult sites on a product that can only be activated by and adult - if you trust a child with a $600 phone I hope you have enough trust as well to talk to them about the websites they visit)
 
no theres no blockage.. just str8 porn.. the only sites allowed on the iphone are porn... youtube... fake .. its youporn .. lmao heheh jk .. im sure theres a way .. just dont visit those sites ... freak lol.. :D :p
 
if we clear out history is there a way for the bill payer to see which website you have visited? via something that AT&T puts on the bill, or may the bill payer ask for a list of websites visited by the iPhone?

I am sure there is a log kept by ATT if you browse on EDGE. If you are browsing by wifi, then the provider will have a log. Its not something the bill payer could access though.
 
hmm.. I know a friend of mine who has wifi at his house, and two laptops. He can go into the wireless router, and see the webpages that had been visited by each wireless laptop. Do you know if this is possible with the iPhone, If someone can go into the wireless router, and see what pages the iPhone visited?

That doesn't really help if you're accessing another persons router. And as far as AT&T Sending you the website reports, I doubt they'd do that, I think that would be way to much hassle for them to send out a report to you on.

My router shows website history, but says nothing of Edge traffic.
 
I am all for IPhone Porn trust me LOL, but I am sure some kind of adult site block will be available really soon. Personally again I hope they do it soon, ya U can always check history, and if your kid is smart enough to erase the history and really cover his tracks good he’s going to see porn no matter what. But if U look at the big picture at least he’s smart, and motivated I think your getting off light with the porn stuff.

All kidding aside I do hope that offer this and I am sure it will be one of the first add-ons. I do not want to hear all this (My kid was exposed to porn cuzz I have a 14 year old a 600$ phone mess) so a porn blocker would make me VERY happy so I can just tell then to BLOCK it then
 
honestly my biggest gripe about this entire thread is that you'd have to be insane to use the iPhone for such content.

Unless it's text, you'd have to be nuts to view pictures over EDGE, but if you had the benefit of wifi, you wouldn't be able to play half the movies because iPhone is so limited.

Now, movies synced with the iPhone...well, that's off topic.

I am sure your right NO One would watch porn on the Iphone, what 15 year old kid would do something like that, or even me :) That would just be wrong and I for one promise to NEVER look at porn on my Ihphone. I will just watch Vids of those girls dancing around in their panties on Youtube I hope this will make U happy

I would if I could, but I can't even load half the webpages I want to, let alone anything media-heavy like..adult content. :p

That's for downloading, converting to iPod-ish quality video and syncing with the iPhone :D

I'm just saying, I'd much rather watch this stuff on my computer with the fast internet connection and big display, not a dinky tiny thing with the slowest connection on earth.
 
Well how U use your Iphone is up to you bro, and I am sure Wi-Fi is coming to a town near U soon. (might want to start voting for more Wi Fi coverage so we can watch our vids on the go more LOL)

But I think it cost 10$ to hook the Wi Fi up at home, and it might have a few bugs as far as crashing, but its only been out less than a week give it 60 days at least. Might be kind of nice to use your iphone in the AM so U do not have to get out of bed or off the couch.

Who knows, but its just going to get easier and easier to just grab your phone and not have to “login” nearly as much now.

Do you...know what wifi is? I already have a wireless network at home, i've had one since the 802.11b days, and I can use it just fine with my iPhone.

That's what the laptop's for, not the phone with the tiny screen...although multitouch zooming is... :eek:
 
Well if I want to really watch a movie I do it on my big screen TV. Laptop's are a bit to cumbersome and not everyone has a set-up like that. This is a cross between a Cell and a laptop. I am sure many will use it all the time to surf the net, might even in 5 years or so with a expandable screen or something replace 99% of the stuff U do on your PC. Traditionally (not laptop’s) Pc’s are so rigged, and U always have to be in the same room in the same chair just a pain in the ass.

Collage students, or people with roommates and the Pc’s is in the living room, same if ya live with your fam. Who know why people do anything, but many adult sites are already becoming Iphone complainant
 
Thanks, all. I want the phone for myself, but I know my kids are going to want to play around with it, borrow it, etc. They may even convince me that they "need" one too. I am just trying to get some information before I bring one home and initiate iphone-mania...
