Block text Messages

With the ever increasing ways advertising, spam, phishing, malware, etc. is polluting our society I'm starting to see spam text messages. Even from phone numbers that have been blocked. First of all I don't understand how I could be getting a spam text from a number that's been blocked so if I'm doing something wrong let me know. I've had 'Filter Unknown Senders' enabled for years now but somehow the spam messages keep getting through.

Is there any official place to request Apple/iOS to step up their spam filtering?

What else can we do to block these?

I'd been getting TONS of political donation spam…many per day. On my iPhone I'll "Delete and Report Junk" which isn't an option on my Macs. I haven't used any phone number "blocking". The messages keep coming in but I've never noted the numbers so I don't know if they're the same.

Last week I enabled Messages in iCloud for my devices and I can't remember getting any spam message since then.
